And this is why we play the MVP until the end of the season - Chris "The Little Bastard" Long beaten like a drum last week, put out of the play-offs and simingly out of the race for MVP came back this week and put down a 134 points on the board to tak 3rd place and the MVP trophy (and moola) right out of the hands of Joey "Everybody Wants Some" Arbogast. All is not lost though, EWS still managed to eek out the win against the Scarecrow.Arbogast beat Arbogast in the AOFL Bowl, and yet again three names will be on the Commissioners Cup: 2008 AOFL Champion (and first in like 6-8 years): Joey "Everybody Wants Some" Arbogast 2008 AOFL Runner-Up: Jimmy "Fear The Scarecrow" Arbogast 2008 AOFL MVP: Chris "The Little Bastards" Long Payouts are as follows: AOFL Champion: $160.00 AOFL Runner-Up: $80.00 AOFL MVP: $80.00 I would like to think this has been one fo the most competitive seasons, and the most bitch free, that I can recall in years. A lot less smack talk, but a lot more fun. Anyone wanting to watch the Superbowl Party at my pad is more than welcome. We can go over a few things, but only a few tweaks next year will be introduced and voted on: 1: Salary Cap - what a joke this year. The tighter cap and smaller roster last year was tough, but this year the cap was an absolute joke. Maybe it is time we scrapped it, and went Auction style for our Draft. In which the draft is the only time player values are used, after the draft there is no cap, just waivers. 2:Is it time to relook at keepers - maybe toss all players back, redraw draft position and draft. Anyone that traded players for picks durring the season would keep those picks, so Matt keep your panties on you want loose your extra picks. Of course if we do auction draft, extra draft pick strategy would need to be used in order tomake them as valuable.

At least the Long cartel came away with something. i would go for the auction. If not, either no cap or a tighter one. This one was a joke. Let's try to make the draft fun again by having everyone there and food, drink and good times. Live a little.

I would like to go straight up auction but I know Matt has several draft picks coming next year...If we commit to a full afternoon next year, we can draft a reduced roster with a tighter cap for the AOFL league then auction another league ( free of charge) and play it out as well. Then in 2010 transition to auctions going forward. LB

I think we could easily transition to an auction league in 2009. I played in one out of Atlanta and it was extremely fun, probbaly because I won the championship. We each started with $200 to buy all 16 players. Here is my drafted roster and what I paid for them: Drafted (in order of draft) via Auction Cost ARBO drafted Drew Brees, NO QB $45.00 ARBO drafted Adam Vinatieri, Ind K $2.00 ARBO drafted Chris Johnson, Ten RB $10.00 ARBO drafted Bears D/ST, Chi D/ST $12.00 ARBO drafted Roy E. Williams, Dal WR $12.00 ARBO drafted Felix Jones*, Dal RB $11.00 ARBO drafted Phil Dawson, Cle K $1.00 ARBO drafted Ricky Williams, Mia $1.00 ARBO drafted Tony Scheffler, Den TE $3.00 ARBO drafted Ryan Grant, GB RB $26.00 ARBO drafted Frank Gore, SF RB $26.00 ARBO drafted Brandon Marshall, Den WR $15.00 ARBO drafted Javon Walker*, Oak WR $12.00 ARBO drafted Marques Colston, NO WR $18.00 ARBO drafted J.T. O'Sullivan, SF QB $1.00 ARBO drafted Ahman Green*, Hou RB $5.00 Notice I was able to get who I really wanted in the later half of the draft. Why? I toosed out players I thought were over priced when it came my time to draft. I let others spend their money early and saved mine for last. The same strategy was used by the final 4 teams in our play-offs. The strategy is simple, when it is your turn in the draft you nominate a player and open the bid on them, then the bidding goes until a final bid is reached. It goes pretty quick. You do not have to bid more than a $1 for any one player. but you must fill out a complete 16 man roster. Bid too much early and you will have to wait until everyone else has a team so you can simply buy the rest of your roster. You decide where to put value - if Ashton really wanted Brees and was willing to pay $75 for him, then he would have gotten him because I had placed a $74 cap on him. Had I spent that much, I would have never made the play-offs. Matts extra picks help him through out decoys, and still grab good players early in the auction. Trading is still important. After the auction/draft there is no cap. It reverts back to the good old cap free way of life, but there is talent to pick up because the cap value was set by the individual owner in the draft - so those who spent wisely and wnet for mediocre players got level teams, those who went lopsided topsided players and paid heavily for so-called studs early in the auction got their asses handed to them. Here is my final roster:(Note the over-all and starting roster slots) QB Drew Brees RB Frank Gore RB Chris Johnson RB/WR Ricky Williams WR Brandon Marshall WR Marques Colston TE Visanthe Shiancoe D/ST Ravens D/ST K Garrett Hartley Bench Ryan Grant Bench Bears D/ST Bench Roy E. Williams Bench Steve Breaston Bench Chris Cooley Bench Carnell Williams Bench DeShaun Foster As you can see I upgraded at back RB, WR and TE - all from drop add waiver wire pick ups. Waivers were Sunday noon - Thursday noon, processing every 24 hours. FCFS was Tursdays at 5pm Sunday Noon. No waivers durring the games. I know this is a lot of info, but I think if a few of you will agree to do a mock auction early next year to see how it works, and we can do it online for free, I know you will be all over it.
